CINCINNATI — Mount St. Joseph University (Mount) has been named a recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award by Insight Into Academia magazine, the leading national publication focused on a positive campus culture and belonging in higher education.

This prestigious award recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate a comprehensive commitment to integrating mental health and emotional well-being into campus culture through accessible services, peer support, resilience-building, and policy advancement.

Mount St. Joseph University will be featured in the September 2025 issue of Insight Into Academia alongside 70 other institutions recognized for their efforts to advance care and belonging excellence and mental health initiatives.

“At Mount St. Joseph University, we believe that true belonging cannot exist without well-being,” said Chief Belonging & Experience Officer at the Mount, Katrice Quitter. “This award affirms our commitment to fostering a campus culture where every student and employee feels supported not just academically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It’s an honor to be recognized for the work we’re doing.”

Insight Into Academia selected Mount St. Joseph University for its holistic approach to well-being, which includes expanded access to counseling and mental health services, student peer mentoring, trauma-informed leadership training, and campus-wide initiatives that promote empathy, connection, and belonging.

“At the Mount, we believe well-being is foundational to student success, and that starts with creating a culture where mental health is prioritized, de-stigmatized, and supported. This honor reflects not only the efforts of our dedicated Wellness Center team, but also a university-wide commitment to helping every student feel supported and empowered to thrive,” said Director of the Wellness Center, Jaimi Cabrera.

Nominations for the 2025 award were collected in March 2025.

“We know that institutions are not always recognized for their dedication to their mental health and well-being services and support for their students and employees,” said Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Academia. “We are proud to honor these colleges and universities as role models for other institutions of higher education.”
